BYU Football Director of Recruiting moves to academic role

PROVO, Utah – BYU football staffer Jasen Ah You has been given a new position. Ah You, the father of BYU defenseman/linebacker Chaz Ah You, is now assistant athletic director for football academics.

Ah You has been the director of BYU football recruitment for the past two years. Prior to that, Ah You was the director of athletic relations for BYU football. During his time at BYU Football, he served as an NFL liaison, helping build relationships and providing current BYU players with insight into their NFL prospects.

Jasen Ah You transitions into the newly created role of academic

In the new role of Assistant Athletic Director for Football Academics, Ah You will be based at BYU’s Built4Life Center (on the third floor of the Student Athlete Building) and report to Assistant Dean of Studies Trevor Wilson.

Ah You’s role is a new position and will report to full-time academic advisors and learning specialists.

“Jasen will be great in this role,” BYU soccer coach Kalani Sitake said of Ah You’s new position. “I’m happy for him. The administration gave him a great opportunity. I am very grateful for what Jasen has done on our support team to help us develop our recruitment, academics and other important areas over the years. He really cares about each individual in our program. He has done much to help our players thrive and grow academically and in all aspects of their lives and I look forward to him continuing to support our players on a daily basis in this new role.”

Part of Ah You’s role is to develop and implement a comprehensive academic plan for each player on the BYU football team. According to BYU’s announcement, each plan is created based on the individual needs of student-athletes and is designed to ensure academic goals are created and met.

BYU Football needs a new Director of Recruiting

BYU listed her position as director of recruiting on her job website earlier this week. The posting closes later today.
