Heat vs. Celtics Game 2 Preview and Prediction

Miami had little trouble covering the five-point spread in the Eastern Conference Finals opener after eliminating a 62-54 halftime deficit and walking off the field with 39 points while holding its opponent at just 14 points in the third quarter.

Jimmy Butler was in superstar form Tuesday night, posting a game-high 41 points – his third 40-point performance in the 2022 NBA Playoffs – while grabbing 17 of 18 from the charity streak and adding nine boards and five assists, four steals and three blocks. He beat Celtics star Jayson Tatum, who led Boston by 29 points but hit just two of his nine attempts from beyond the arc.

The Heat’s superb three-point defense kept the Celtics from deep with just 11 makes on 34 tries. These teams have fielded the most efficient perimeter defenses this year — each allowing their opponents to connect just 33.8 percent of their threes in the regular season — and whichever side is better at holding the threes in this series will have a leg up Advancement to NBA Finals 2022.

Despite a tough performance in Game 1, expect Boston to recover strongly tonight.

The roster has recovered well from losing the 2022 NBA Playoffs. The C’s won straight away, covering the spread after each of their three losses to the Bucks.

Most importantly, Boston could get two key pieces back in the lineup. Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart is likely to return after a foot sprain after missing the first set, while Lynchpin center Al Horford is in doubt about staying in the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

With Smart active, the Celtics will field a much more complete lineup for this competition. With Boston surpassing Miami by a 93-79 lead disregarding the third quarter, the visitors should be dialed in and ready to compete with their defensive anchor back in the crease over all 48 minutes.

Take the points in case that clash happens, but the Cs are the smart play against the spread in Game 2.

Choose: Celts +3.5

Forecast: Celtics 103 – Run 100
